‘I guess we will feed our people fish at cheap prices’

The ban on fishing in the seas, which started on April 15, will end on September 1. As of this date, fishermen from Ordu have been maintaining their boats and nets, and are completing their final preparations for the remaining season, which is about 20 days away. Fishermen estimate that the bonito, which was caught less in the last season, seems to be quite abundant this season, and the bonito has already reached half a kilogram.

“BONUS FISH LOOKS LOTS OF THIS SEASON”

Şahin Aydemir, President of Altınordu Kumbaşı Fishermen’s Cooperative, said, “We have completed our boat and net preparations since April. Hopefully this year the acorn season will be good. At the moment, all fishermen are preparing for the season quickly, I guess we will feed our people fish at cheap prices. We look forward to the season. Bonito fish was very scarce last season. This negatively affected our fishermen. Our hope is this season,” he said.

“THE Acorns WE SEE HAVE ALREADY REACHED HALF A KILLAGE”

Fisherman Erkan Akdeniz at Kumbaşı Fisherman’s Shelter stated that they expect plenty of bonito from the 2022 season, and that it already seems abundant. Akdeniz added that the bonito they see in the seas ranges from 350 grams to half a kilogram.
