The 10th Chamber of the Council of State rejected the request for annulment of the President’s Decision dated 20 March 2021 regarding the annulment of the Istanbul Convention. The decision was taken by three votes to two.
While the decision was met with great public reaction, especially women’s organizations, religious circles expressed their satisfaction.

In the news, which alleged that the Istanbul Convention threatened the moral structure of the society, it was stated that “The Istanbul Convention was abolished with the Presidential decree on 20 March 2021 as a result of the struggle of the Milli Gorus movement.”
In the news, it was stated that after the Istanbul Convention, it was the Law No. 6284 on the Protection of the Family and the Prevention of Violence Against Women to be abolished.
Addressing the government with the words “In order to get rid of the Istanbul Convention mentality completely, the law in question should be abolished as soon as possible”, the comment was made that “unless the Law No. 6284, which is considered as the implementation law of the Istanbul Convention, is not abolished, it is thought that the Istanbul Convention will be in practice, even if it is not ostensibly.”
