“Kılıçdaroğlu Volunteers”, organized with the coordination of CHP Chairman Advisor Ahmet Nazif Yücel, gathered in Ankara on 25 June with the participation of CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
At the meeting, which also included high-level names from the party, the speech of Kılıçdaroğlu, “We are on a road, join us”, which he made at the group meeting of his party, was emphasized. Speaking to Cumhuriyet about the work of the volunteers, Yücel said, “Since March, we have been organized under the name of ‘Kılıçdaroğlu Volunteers’. We have around 20 thousand coordination groups yet, but our number is increasing rapidly. We have completed our organization in 81 provinces,” he said. Providing information about the purpose of the movement, Yücel said, “We want our chairman’s ideas to reach everywhere and we want to meet especially with those with whom we have difficulties in communication. There is a year until the elections. There is no definite candidacy for our chairman, but if he becomes a candidate, we are already making preparations,” he said.
Umut Eraslan, who carried out the work of the volunteers in Ankara and Central Anatolia, stated that among the participants were people who had not taken part in CHP activities until today, “There are also those who took part in the party. We’ve had a few meetings so far. We came together with young lawyers to create a lawyer community on election day. We talked to those who want to contribute,” he said. Eraslan said that they would concentrate on the places in Central Anatolia where the party received less votes and said, “We made visits to professional chambers and opinion leaders in places such as Çankırı, Kırşehir, Nevşehir and Niğde. We will continue our work in this context. “We will reach people in Ankara’s 25 districts that we could not reach before, and who have never voted for Kılıçdaroğlu,” he said.
“CONCLUSION OF EXPECTATION”
Erdoğan Toprak, CHP Chairman Coordinator Chief Advisor, said about the volunteers: “It was the result of a great expectation from the society. After Mr. Kemal’s ‘Join us’ call, some people said, ‘We also want to be in this process. We also want to do something in this troubled period of the country. However, we are not party members. What can we do?’ there were those who said. As a result of this demand, such an organization was born. This is the response of the people to the call to ‘Join us’.
