Amid the astonishment of the population, the pit swallowed him and he miraculously survived

Emergency services were called to the scene, and the cyclist narrowly escaped what happened.

A group of residents said the motorcyclist pulled himself out of the hole, which was 20 feet wide and 16 feet deep.

A police cordon was placed around the damaged section of the road and officers remained at the scene to protect residents nearby.

Mick Stevens, an aviation technician who lives near the scene, said the cyclist was screaming and asked pedestrians to secure a taxi.

Ryan Bond, a teacher based in the area, said: “At around 9pm we heard what we thought was thunder.

Another resident pointed out that what happened is considered good, given that it happened at night, and did not happen during the hours when children were in the street.
