‘You made a hospital but can I go? Those who do not have money cannot go, I wait in line for days.

Aziz Hıdır Doğan, a cancer patient living in Elazığ, said that he is retired and could not get the necessary support from the state in the face of his health problems.

Dogan said:

“I am retired. I receive a salary of 3 thousand 100 liras. I cannot make a living, I am sick with cancer, the state does not even give my device. They look after Syrians for free, they do not give their devices to pensioners. I gave a file to Elazig deputies, I sent a file to the Ministry, I did not receive any response. Elazig deputies have no idea about Elazig, We say that Elazig is unclaimed.

Now I can’t even take my meds. You will go to a separate department for medicine, you will be examined, you will make an appointment, many procedures. You will pay money. They removed many drugs from the 10 percent payment last month. In other words, this government has no policy regarding disabled people, retirees and patients. Health policy has gone bankrupt, I can’t get a queue from hospitals for days. Sir, you built a hospital, you did, but can I go? Those who do not have money cannot go, even if they do, I am turned away from the door, I wait in line for days.

Meat does not enter our house properly, we have started to buy fruits and vegetables, let alone by weight. Do they not know these things? Look, a deputy cannot come and ask about the status of the pensioner. Why? Because they have no way of looking at the face of the retired.”

“After the pandemic process, the continuous increase in every product and the non-stop inflation dilemma have broken the back of the retired citizen. Should we give the salary we receive to our children, support our house, or pay our installments?” Cemalettin Yıldız, a retired citizen from Elazığ, said:

“I am retired from the University Hospital. All my friends who retired with me are currently doing additional work in the market. In other words, the pensioner’s standard of living is at a low level. For example, friends who receive 2 thousand 500 liras complain to me, they come to me and say that we get 2 thousand 500 liras. “Should we give it to our children, to support our house, to pay our installments, that is, the pensioner has a lot of problems. The living standard of the pensioner should be raised a little more, all the conditions given to the civil servants should be at the same level as the pensioners, unfortunately the conditions in today’s Turkey are getting harder and harder. I am 60 years old. “This is the first time in my life that I have seen a watermelon being bought with my tongue. This is the first time in my life in my life. This is an indicator of what level we have reached. But I hope that our wish will be a good level of prosperity.”

Another retired citizen, Nadir Hangun, said that there should be improvement in pensions. Hangün continued his statement as follows:

“The retirees are suffering from financial difficulties at the moment. The retirees are really struggling with the wages given in these conditions under these conditions. So we expect our government to improve their salaries this July and to give an even better increase. You know, for example, because the price hikes in this oil are reflected in everything from needle to thread. “The raises given to the pensioners are melting away on the same day. We expect this to be improved from our government. 3 thousand 600 additional indicators are not available to us at the moment, we expect them to be given to us as well.”

Mehmet Ali Ayyıldız, a retired citizen from Elazığ, stated that the cost of living affected the retirees the most in the current economic crisis, and said:

“I will cut back on everything, I will cut down on my food and drink, and I will shorten my heat in order to make a living. I am a retired worker. I receive a salary of 3 thousand 630 TL. But it is not possible to make a living with a pension. I am a tradesman, my house is not rent. But My problem is that I can’t manage from 3 thousand 630 liras. Everyone is getting a salary of 15-16 thousand and no one has been working properly for 2 years from where they live. Due to the pandemic, there is no job, we sit like that. I have 2 engineer students with 3 thousand 600 liras, I have no chance to manage No. If I didn’t work as a tradesman, I would never have a chance to manage. I will cut myself short of everything to make a living. I will also cut off my clothes, I will cut down on my eating and heating. Because I have to manage accordingly. What is my income, should I go and borrow money from someone else after this age? I am not in a position to pay to borrow money. I borrowed money from you today. I have to pay tomorrow. Where can I get it and pay it, that is not the case. In this case, the high cost of living has affected the retirees a lot. There are also many who do not have a job in the domestic market. There are two children. One is an engineer. They couldn’t even get to work. They’re wandering around.”
