The historical building that hosted Atatürk was given to the ministry
Karşıyaka Teachers’ Club, where historical artifacts and Atatürk paintings were lost during its restoration in İzmir, was taken from the use of teachers.
The historical building, which was built in 1892 and hosted Mustafa Kemal Atatürk many times, was transferred to the İzmir Institute of Maturation. The center was inaugurated the previous day by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife Emine Erdoğan and Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer.
The four crystal mirrors exhibited in the historical building, 11 original photographs taken during the War of Independence and two Atatürk paintings disappeared after the restoration works. In the report of the İzmir Provincial Directorate of National Education, it was stated that the mirrors were broken during the restoration and the whereabouts of the paintings were not known.
