The arrested suspect Erdal Dönmez was connected to the hearing at Bakırköy 19th High Criminal Court via Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS). Meryem Yılmaz’s family, children and women first association and party lawyers were also present at the hearing.

Ferhat Atmaca, who was heard as a witness at the hearing, stated that he did not know the victim and said, “While I was walking in the Kadir Topbaş park, I saw a woman and a man arguing. I did not hear what they were talking about. They were shouting at each other at that stage. “I saw the defendant hit the woman with the knife in his hand. When I turned towards them, the man with the knife in his hand fled the scene. He stabbed the victim many times until I went to the accused person from where I was. When we went to the woman, he was unable to speak.”
