Prime Minister of France resigns! Elisabeth Borne appointed as new Prime Minister
In the statement made by the Elysee Palace, it was stated that 61-year-old Borne was appointed as Prime Minister and was tasked with forming the new government.
Borne served as Minister of Transport (2017-2019), Minister of Ecology (2019-2020) and Minister of Labor (2020-2022), respectively, during Macron’s first presidency.
Borne became the second female prime minister of the French 5th Republic.
Edith Cresson was the first female prime minister of France for about 11 months during the ex-François Mitterrand term.
The Elysee Palace announced that Castex and his government submitted their resignation to Macron, and that his resignation was accepted.
