Rize-Artvin Airport, whose tender and construction process is the subject of discussion, was opened with the participation of President of AKP Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. President of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev, Chairman of MHP Devlet Bahçeli, Chairman of BBP Mustafa Destici, Deputy Chairman of AKP Binali Yıldırım, ministers attended the opening as well as Erdoğan.

In his speech at the opening, AKP Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım said, “When we set out on this road in 2002, our President and leader said, ‘Mr. Binali, we will make the airline the way of the people.’ those who met on the plane knew each other. Always the same faces, always the same passengers… It doesn’t work like that, everyone will get on the plane and the airline will be the way of the people! It’s okay? Good luck… As long as you’re behind us, there’s no stopping!” said.
In Turkey, where the minimum wage is 4 thousand 253 liras and 40 cents, the last flight ticket prices were astonishing during Yıldırım’s speech. It was seen that an economy class flight ticket from Istanbul to Izmir costs a total of 1,361 TL and 68 kuruş.
A round trip ticket from Istanbul to Rize costs 1,327 TL and 98 kuruş.
