Streets flooded in China due to flooding

Flooding occurred in Guangdong province in southern China due to heavy rains. While disaster and emergency teams in the province were dispatched to the flood zones, a red alert was issued in the cities of Taishan, Heyuan, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Shenzhen.

In the statement made by the Guangdong Meteorological Service, it was stated that yellow and orange warnings were issued throughout the province. Thousands of people living in at-risk areas were evacuated to safe areas in Guangdong, where four rivers have exceeded the flood alert level.

While parks and cultural venues in the state were closed due to heavy rain, education was suspended for 2 days in kindergartens, primary schools and high schools in some provinces. Ferry services were also canceled in the state, where train lines were suspended in many cities.

Heavy rains are expected to continue in the province today and tomorrow, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Service.
