5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Peru – Last Minute World News

Peru Geophysics Institute (PGI) National Seismological Center announced that the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 49 kilometers, was 30 kilometers west of the city of Chilca, 60 kilometers from the capital Lima.

Authorities reported that there was no loss of life or property in the 5.5-magnitude earthquake.

Peru, which is one of the countries with the highest seismic activity in the world, is located in the Pacific Earthquake Belt, also known as the “Ring of Fire”.

The 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Peru on 15 August 2007 killed 595 people.
