Huseyin Celik criticized the Supreme Court’s ‘Kaftancioglu’ decision: ‘Very wrong’
While the Supreme Court of Appeals decided to reverse the sentence given to CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu for “propagandizing for an armed terrorist organization” and “provoking the public to hatred and enmity”, “insulting a public official for her duty”, “insulting the president”, “Turkey He upheld the sentences given for the crimes of “openly humiliating the State of the Republic” by reducing the sentence. After the Supreme Court’s decision of approval, the local court’s sentence of 9 years, 8 months and 15 days in prison for Kaftancıoğlu was reduced to 4 years and 11 months.
It was stated that Kaftancıoğlu just had to surrender, sign and be released again. It has been reported that Kaftancıoğlu, who will not have to go to prison, will be banned from politics as of the notification of the decision. The decision of the Supreme Court came from Hüseyin Çelik, who was the Minister of Culture and National Education in the 58th and 59th governments of the AKP.
“FINAL DECISION WAS VERY WRONG”
Çelik, who shared on his social media account, said, “I have always been against the political line of Mr. Kaftancıoğlu, but the last decision was very wrong.” Çelik’s post is as follows:
