According to the American Kennel Club, Great Danes are descended from nav dogs in the Middle Ages. They also tend to have a shorter lifespan than other dogs.
Last year, the Great Dane, celebrated by Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest dog, died at the age of 8. The dog, who lived in Essex, England, had a length of 103.5 centimeters from foot to shoulders. Standing on its hind legs, it was 226 centimeters long.
