Footage posted on social media shows a Mi-8 helicopter being destroyed as Russian forces descended from it.
In the video, Kremlin soldiers can be seen leaving the helicopter moments before Ukrainian drones dropped their shells.
The video footage then switches to a long-range shot that shows the aftermath of the explosion with smoke rising as the drone flies away from Snake Island.
It is not yet known whether there were any deaths or injuries in the explosion, and the clip was not dated, according to the newspaper “The Sun”.
This comes after another Ukrainian drone strike on Saturday destroyed a Russian landing ship on the same island in the Black Sea.
The small snake island is considered a strategic area in the Black Sea, allowing the formation of dangerous and open threats at the same time, as this island has become a symbol of the Ukrainian resistance, since from the first day of the war, the Russians attacked it to seize it.
The island of a few hectares provides a dangerous launch pad all around it, as it is located at a distance of about 50 km from the mouth of the Danube, one of the main rivers in Europe and an important trade route, and at a distance of about 100 km from Odessa, and theoretically allows to hit the entire Ukrainian coast .
